This is a diesel electric motor once used by this local railroad. It is an EMD. From a photo I noticed on another website. This motor appears to be an EMD SW1. It is on display at the museum daily. Donated to the museum, by the now parent company G&O RR, as a celebration of one hundred years of local railroad presence in our community. As a former conductor for this railroad, it was thrilling to see this piece of railroad equipment placed a this museum. It is available to the public as a hands on piece. That's right train and locomotive fans, you are allowed to climb aboard and have a seat in the engineer's seat. Too bad the horn is not hooked up to an air compressor so you could blow it; although I do not think the nearby vet's office would care for that option too much.
