Near the head of the Alsea River, this hatchery is the major source of cutthroat trout for the central Oregon coast. More than 600,000 fish from this hatchery are released each year into rivers in the coast range. The hatchery also keeps a stock of mature steelhead, for experimentation and genetic refinement. There is no visitor center per se, but there are a number of public information displays about.
