Long Description:Building is at northeast corner of Wall and Idaho. This sign is located at the northwest corner of the building.

Marker Name: Bend Amateur Athletic Club
Marker Text: Completed in March, 1918 at a cost of $50,000 raised by public subscription, the structure was designed to serve 500 members of the athletic club and the need for a community recreational-cultural center. It contained facilities for swimming, bowling, wrestling and had a theater and library.
The influenza epidemic of 1918 required its use as an emergency hospital.
In March, 1923, the building was acquired by the Bend school district for use as a gymnasium.
Built of local brick and lumber, the building is 70’ by 114’, of three stories, 62’ high at the entrance.
