Howard-Payne Hall

In 1852 Howard High School built this hall as student lodging.  In 1854 it wwas enlarged to hold classses for Howard Female College.  The name of Moses Payne, the school's chief benefactor, was added in 1892, yielding "Howard-Payne," a name shared by hall and school until 1923.
