The Cashier's House, a rather unassuming 3 story building, was designed by Philadelphia architect William Kelly as a residence for the chief executive officer (cashier) of the Erie Branch of the Bank of the United States. The Branch Bank, which now serves as the home of the Erie Art Museum (

The text on the marker reads:
"Erected as a residence for the cashier of a branch of the U.S. Bank of Pennsylvania, which occupied the adjacent building. Completed 1839."
