High above the town of Utelle, past the Madone d'Uelle chapel is an orientation table to identify the surrounding mountain peaks. This orientation table was designed by the Club Alpine Français. The views are spectacular back into the Mercontur National Park from this viewpint at 1181 m. Note the location is given in Grads based on the Paris meridian. 48G 79 N. 5G 40 E. Many of the French maps still use the Republican system of 100 Grads = 90 degrees and the Paris, not Greenwich meridian. C'est difficile mais vive la differance.
Artist / Creator: Club Alpine Français
Location / Access: Climb or drive up from Utelle to the Madone d'Utelle chapel and walk farther along the ridge to the prominent orientation table viewpoint.
