Located on the corner of 3rd Street and North Pierce Avenue, this small park is home to the city's veterans memorial.
The memorial is dedicated to all veterans, past, present, and future.
The memorial has the American flag in the center and six service flags and the POW-MIA flag on display. It is well lit and a very nice tribute to veterans.
Egan is a very small town on the southern edge of Moody County, South Dakota. Its population is 245 as of July 2008. It has dropped about 8% from the 2000 census.
Very little commerce exists in Egan. They lost their school a number of years ago and recently they lost their post office. The main business is the grain elevator. It has a small community center and the citizens are fiercly loyal to their town.
The area was settled by German, Norwegian, Irish, Danish, and Dutch peoples and the town was incoporated on March 24, 1881.

Description of Memorial:
This memorial is very simple, yet very moving. Not a lot of verbage on it, but what is there says it all. It is honoring all veterans in any war.
The three granite stones are very appropriate to the size of the town. A small town with a small monument. Nothing ornate or gaudy, just a very nice memorial.
