Qualcomm Stadium used to be known as San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium until 1997. Qualcomm is the only Stadium to have hosted both the SuperBowl and the World Series in the same year. (1998) It is the current home of the San Diego Chargers and the San Diego State Aztecs. Other events are also held here: concerts, religious congregations, soccer games, etc. The Holiday Bowl and the Poinsettia Bowl are played here every year.
The San Diego Padres baseball team used to play here until they moved to their new stadium, Petco Park, in 2003.
The Stadium was opened in 1967. It is owned and operated by the City of San Diego.
The Chargers have been threatening to move to another city if they can not reach agreement with the City of San Diego on the construction of a new Stadium.
