Long Description:Franktown was founded by Mormom leader Orson Hyde. It was named after Frank Poirier, a resident of the area. Franktown was part of what was called, at that time, the Western Utah Territory. A wood flume, run by the Virginia and Gold Hill water company ended in Franktown. The flume was used to deliver lumber to the bottom of the Sierra's for use in the mines of Virginia City.
