The monument will honor all who served in any capacity in time of war and peace since the nation's inception.
It will be located at the north end of City Park adjacent to the Legion bingo/picnic shelter, will feature a circular sidewalk made of memorial bricks and will be lit. The engraved portions of the monument will appear on both sides of the face in a manner similar to that shown in the drawing. Two large flag poles will be permanently located on each end. Smaller poles will be installed around the rotunda to hold individual armed service flags. The main poles will hold flags at all times. The service flags will be raised for special occasions only.
To be carved from black granite, the monument will be constructed of three vaulted semi-obelisks and feature a full-color American Flag at the top center, with an official POW/MIA logo etched below. On each side individual logos of America's armed services will be etched on the outer obelisks.
Below the POW/MIA logo will be etched: "In Honor of All Those Who Served This Great Nation in War and Peace Time." Along the base on each side of the monument will be carved the simple words: "Duty, Honor, Country."
