In 1938 John D. Rockefeller's son gave the land that became Forest Hills Park to the cities of East Cleveland and Cleveland Heights. Landscape Architect Albert Davis Taylor designed a masterplan for the area to become Forest Hills Park. Between 1938 and 1941 the two communities brought Taylor's plan to reality. The Forest Hills Lawn Bowling Club was one of the projects completed within the park.
Today the club continues to operate as a private club within the park. The pavilion includes a kitchen, a picnic area, storage areas for the club's lawn bowling supplies and landscaping supplies, and restrooms. One of the two greens has been converted to a parking area for members while the remaining green is maintained for lawn bowling. The greens are available to members one morning each week, one evening, and Saturday and Sunday. New members are welcome.
