A pharmacist named Charles Alderton is believed to be the inventor of Dr Pepper. He was dispensing medications and working the soda fountain at a Waco store. He mixed the different flavors and carbonated soda and came up with what is now known as Dr Pepper. There are many stories about how the drink got it's name.
You can take a self guided tour through the three story museum and sample a fresh drink at the soda fountain. The first floor houses the gift shop and soda fountain. You'll also find the original well where they got water to make the sodas. Bottling equipment can also be found on the first floor. The second floor has many interactive displays and information on soda in general. The third floor is occupied by the Free Enterprise Institute and a W. W. Foots Clements exhibit.
