Farol da Barra, is located at Ponta de Santo António is a tronconi masonry tower with lanter and gallery. 22 feet tall and painted with black and white bands. The lighthouse is built inside Forte Santo António da Barra.

In XVII century, Salvador's Harbor was one of the most important of this continent and it the ships that were arriving needed some help to moor. From here they would carry sugar, cotton, tobacco, pau-brasil and other kinds of wood and items to the old European Continent.
It was decided to built after the great galleon "Santissimo Sacramento" sinked on May 5th 1668 and was finished on 1698.
