The Mount Soledad Cross and Memorial was originally dedicated to Korean War Veterans- but over time has come to honor all Veterans.
This particular plaque is one of hundreds- although, most of the others, honor a particular servicemember. This plaque is located on the northern end of one of the concentric walls surrounding the cross
and below the title:
"AMERICAN CIVIL WAR
1861-1865"
it list four officers of the Confederacy serving in the Lousiana Infantry and Cavalry: Joseph H. Hewitt, Sebron W. Mills, Richard A. Courtney & Beniah T. Patton.
The Memorial also includes an image of the Civil War Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery
