A Portland stone cross of octagonal cross section, atop a rectangular base. The cross and base are on a grass bank that is faced with stone and has stone steps up to the cross. The base of the cross carries the names of the fallen from both world wars.
The inscription reads
IN HONOUR OF THE MEN OF
ASHWELL WHO FOUGHT IN THE
GREAT WAR AND IN LOVING
MEMORY OF THOSE WHO FELL
OUR GLORIOUS DEAD
[NAMES]
THEIR NAME LIVETH
FOR EVERMORE
The cross was designed by Sir Edward Lutyens and was unveiled on 6th November 1920 by Major General J.E.B. Seely.
