Molly Brown House - Denver, CO - Sphinx Sculptures on Waymarking.com

These sphinx are located on platforms that form the wall for the porch veranda. One has been defaced with green paint in the eye(probably from a paint gun). While I could not verify the reason for the sphinx, Margaret 'Molly' Brown ('Molly' was never her nickname during her life; it grew from stories and movies) enjoyed a visit to Egypt with the Astor's and visited the famous Egyptian Sphinx (visit link) . This may be the reason for the matching set.
