This octagonal chalice-shaped font, placed under the tower arch, is dated as being from the Decorated Period, 1370 - 1440. It was sold by the churchwardens in the 18th century to be used as a garden ornament! When restored to the church it needed a new piece of stone in the shaft as this was damaged. The body of a dragon can be seen 'embedded' in the shaft, with the head and tail emerging from either side, symbolising the dominant influence of the sacrament of Holy Baptism over sin.
It has a plain wooden cover with metal scroll work on it.
