From 1882 until 1886 Port Moody was the expected western terminus of the Canadian Pacific Railway. Suddenly in 1885 the CPR management, working closely with the British Columbia legislature, moved the western terminus to Vancouver. In reality Vancouver made far more sense as it had a natural deep water harbour as opposed to Port Moody's extensive mudflats.

Now run by the Port Moody Heritage Society this museum explains the significance the railway had on the development of Port Moody.
