This plaque is located on the wall of 125 B St in South Boston. Affixed to the wall facing B St, the plaque reads:
This tablet is placed by the
Society of Sons of the Revolution
in the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts
March 16, 1900
to mark the site of Nook Hill.
During the siege of Boston by the
American forces under General Washington
an attempt was made on the evening of March 9
to plant a battery near this spot.
The Americans were driven away by the fire
from the British guns and five were killed.
The work was resumed March 16 completing the
line of the American fortifications and causing
the British troops to evacuate the town of Boston
March 17 1776.
The plaque, while dated 1900, looks much newer than that - that may stem from the fact that the building on which the plaque is located is undergoing conversion from industrial to residential space. Also, the corner of W 3rd St and B St is designated "Nook's Hill Square."

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
