This parish was originally named St. Mary's; it had no fixed place of worship, but used family homes or rented buildings until this church was built. The parish name was changed to Sacred Heart upon the completion and dedication of this church on 7 October. 1906. The website (see below) has a lot of details about the construction of the church; rather than repeat it all, we leave it to you to read the "Church History" tab for some fascinating information told by those who live and worship here. They tell their story far better than we ever could.
The church office and hall is at 2355 Monroe Street. The Sacred Heart elementary school is at 2255 Monroe Street. Both of these are in the north end of town.
