This little "grove" is located on Broadway in the center of downtown Edmond, OK. It sits on the southwest corner of 1st and Broadway in front of the historic People's Bank/First National Bank building and commemorates 100 years of Oklahoma Statehood, celebrated in November 2007.
This particular grove is sponsored by the Edmond Downtown Streetscape, a group dedicated to urban landscaping. In Edmond, with wider downtown sidewalks, landscaping , street furniture and in cooperation with the City-sponsored public art throughout the City, the goal is to create a place where people want to linger and enjoy the scenery.
There are currently 20 Centennial Groves around the state, and two related groves. The Oklahoma Centennial Commission together with The Tree Bank Foundation are responsible for this project.
