Florida remembers World War II, December 7, 1941-September 2, 1945.

This monument is dedicated to the 248,000 Floridians who served in the armed forces of the United States in World War II, especially the more than 4,600 Floridians who gave their lives in the service of their country.

The central pillar of Florida's World War II monument is an exact replica of the Florida pillar at the national World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C.

The 67 county plaques depict the sacrifices and contributions of local Floridians to the World War II effort.

A grateful state and nation remember their sacrifices in the name of freedom.

Immediately adjacent to the pillar is a walkway with a plaque from Florida's 67 counties, with the names of those from each county who lost their lives in the war.

The pillar itself is 2 sided, with the word FLORIDA on each side, and a metal wreath on each side.
