All that remains of the original Norman font is the base. It is likely that it was smashed by Cromwellian soldiers during the English Civil War. After the Restoration the Church Warden's accounts for 1664 record the expenditure of 7/6p for a replacement font. This replaced the wooden font which had been used since the "ancient" one was broken. The cover was given to the Church in 1914 as a memorial to William Ledbrook.
The font has been in several locations around the church and was positioned in its present location in 2003.
Approximate Age of Artefact: 1664
