"The Bond-Forbes school was located at 11605 Saline-Macon Road. The Bond school District (Saline No. 4) was organized in 1837. It is unclear why the district was named Bond, as the 1837 log school was built on the property purchased from E. Reynolds., located across the road frpm 11605 Macon on land contigous to Samuel Bond's land. Speculation prevailed that the name Bond had somthing to do with the new black walnut desks that lined the one-room school. In 1858, the present school was built at 11605 Saline-Macon road, complete with 25 new benches. It was the center of community life in the area. The school closed in 1955 and is now a residence."
