The Watermill Pumping Station was built in 1923. It is actually the pedestal of an "American wind engine", an iron windmill used to pump up groundwater from the large pond. In the end, this was deemed unnecessary so the windmill was promptly disassembled. The remaining substructure is now a listed building. This small building was designed by Henry van de Velde. It is constructed from bricks with rough block of Maulbronn sandstone. The "De Hoge Veluwe" symbol can be seen above the door entrance. The building bears elements from Christian and theosophist symbolism and, with its mostaba features, represents a natural continuation of the Egyptian building style that enjoyed popularity around the turn of the century. The plan for the future is to finally finish the station by build the additional "American wind engine".
