Ray Preston of Lola Ray's Construction Services is building that project. It consists of a three-story, 4,391-square-foot home with four bedrooms and four baths with an attached garage. The third building is a workshop. Preston said it is being built for a physician who supplied the plans and had two other geodesic dome homes built for him. Preston said it is costing about $600,000 because of the high-end materials and finishings being used, but it could be built with standard items for about $300,000. The advantage of the design, he said, is that it is wind resistant with no corners to be caught in the wind. "If a fierce hurricane comes through," Preston said, "that home will still be standing."
