Monte de Gozo is the last hill to climb on the Camino de Santiago. In medieval times, the pilgrims were able to see the city and the steeples of the cathedral they were trying to reach. You can no longer see the cathedral from this point but you can stop and rest, perhaps get a room, or leave your horse if you are doing the Camino on horseback since horses are no longer allowed in the city and the riders have to do the last 4 Kms on foot to finish their pilgrimage.
Nice simple hotel, hostal, stables, restaurant, shops etc. make the stay at this location enjoyable. The statue stands in the middle of the complex.
