The Stokes County Confederate Memorial stands on the grounds of the Stokes County Courthouse in Danbury, North Carolina. Unlike many Southern Confederate Memorials, this memorial is not a statue of a soldier, but rather a nearly carved block of red granite with a Confederate flag on the front and the image of a Confederate soldier on each side. The monument is surrounded by small markers of companies organized in Stokes County that served with the Confederacy. The Memorial was erected by the Stokes Co. Historical Society and Capt. M.W. Norfleet Camp # 1249, Sons of Confederate Veterans. It was dedicated on May 26, 1990.
The top of the Memorial is inscribed “Stokes County Troops, C.S.A.,” while the base of the monument is inscribed “In Honor of All Who Served.”
The back of the Monument is inscribed, “From Manassas to Gettysburg, From Gettysburg to Appomattox.”
