The Pottawatomie County Courthouse is a three-story building, constructed in 1935 of faced stone blocks. It is a beautiful example of Art Deco architecture, unusual for courthouses in Oklahoma. There is a full exposed basement. The main entrance on Broadway is elevated above ground level, with a broad flight of granite stairs leading to three sets of double doors. separated by fluted stone panels. The front facade is very elaborate with ornate windows with metal framing. There are three large medallions on the front windows depicting the head of an Indian, the scales of justice and the head of a pioneer.
The building name is constructed of raised lettering. A partial attic used to house the county jail, however, a new jail was constructed on Highway 177 in 2005. The building was constructed in 1935, designed by the firm of A.C. Davis. The building houses the County offices, including the District Court, and all public records. The building is open Monday to Friday from 8:00-5:00.
