The exact replica of the Oval Office is truly one of the highlights of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Museum and Library. The Carter Center Oval Office is furnished exactly as it was during President Carter’s term in the White House. A unique feature of the Carter Center Oval Office is a tape of President Carter talking about the office and some of the things that occurred while he was president.. Visitors may stand in a large doorway but are not permitted entrance into the office itself. The desk is an exact replica of the Resolute Desk, which was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes. The original desk was made from timbers of the British ship, the HMS Resolute, and is still being used in the White House Oval Office. Most of what visitors see in the Carter Center Oval Office are exact replicas, however the Bible on the desk is original and was actually used by President Carter in the White House Oval Office.
