The Beauchamp mausoleum is a brick structure, barrel roofed with a cementious exterior coating. Easy to spot in the Fairview Cemetery, as it is one of only two mausoleums, it has a large evergreen tree growing beside it.
Over the entrance is the following:
T.H.
BEAUCHAMP
ORA. 1917 MAMA
The list below of the remains interred therein, has an anomaly. It was taken from the graves list of the cemetery. It is a tale also told on the memorial stones outside the mausoleum.
BEAUCHAMP (Mausoleum) :
S.M. 8-13-1886 – 6-13-1890
Louise M 8-28-1868 – 1-4-1908*
Ora h 6-13-1890 – 5-19-1917
Mamie 2-13-1908 – 2-20-1908*
Mabel 4-20-1937
T.H. 6-12-1940
* mom died before dau. born
On her stone, Louisa M. Beauchamp is listed as the wife of T.H, Beauchamp. On the stone for Mamie Beauchamp, she is listed as the Dau. of T.H & L.M. Beauchamp. As the graves list points out, this would mean she was born over a month after her mother died.
The only clue is the Reeves County Death Records for 1908 as transcribed on the Reeves Co. TXGenWeb website, where the only Beauchamp death listed for 1908 is Mr. T.H. Beauchamp. Are the dates on the stone wrong? It would seem the answer is buried in the Beauchamp mausoleum.
