Cherry Lake is located approximately 40 miles east of Sonora at elevation of 4,750 feet in the rugged back country of the Stanislaus National Forest. The lake contains 4 square surface miles of water surrounded by heavily timbered pine and cedar shoreline. There is one campground located at the lake with 46 sites suitable for both tents and RV's; boat camping allowed on the east side of the lake. All boating is permitted as well as water-skiing and swimming. For the fisherman Cherry Lake offers excellent rainbow, brown, and brook trout fishing as well as an occasional Coho salmon.
