The Iron Forrest - Central monument of 1956 - Monuments of the Eastern Freedomfights on Waymarking.com

This monument is located beside of the Dózsa György street, at the corner of the Citypark of Budapest.
The Iron Forest is the central memorial of the 1956 Hungarian revolution. The monument is composed of 2006 iron poles with a height between 2 and 8 meters. It represents the common will of the nation coming into existence from diversity. The winning design - made by the three-member designer group Ypszilon - was selected from among 79 various designs. The memorial is erected on the spot of the infamous Stalin-statue, which was destroyed during the 1956 revolution. The poles have a 56 degrees angle towards the street, and they become from rusty to shiny to represent national unity. It sums the will of the Hungarian people for freedom.
