On the northeast corner of N.W. 25th and Western stands this awe-inspiring Gothic church, built in the 1950's. The walls are light gray stone. The sanctuary runs north-south, with the main entrance facing south. There are two sets of double wood doors, with iron grating. Surrounding this recess entrance is a high and decorative stone surround. Above this is a massive, arched stained glass window with segmented glass sections and decorative grating.
The parapet rises high above the entrance with two stone pilasters flanking the entrance. The sanctuary has a steeply pitched roof, with 80 ft. high ceilings in the worship center. Along each side of the sanctuary are tall, segmented stained glass windows. A total of 73 Willet stained glass windows adorn the church building. This sanctuary section is cross-shaped, with a long narrow center, and short entry wings at the sides. It seats 1400 and contains four pipe organs. The sound system is hidden in fourteen chandeliers which hang above the sanctuary.
The two-story education and office wings project to the west in a zig zag pattern - first west, then south, then west. An 80 ft. tower rises from the back of the sanctuary, with the church bells. Two additional chapels are part of the complex. The church sits directly south of the historic Fairlawn Cemetery, established in 1892.
Sunday services are at 8:30 and 10:55 AM, with Sunday school at 9:30. The 10:55 service is streamed live and can be heard online at the church's website.
Wednesday activities include
Adult Choir - 7:30
Youth Choir 6:00
Cherub (2-5) Choir 6:15
Hand bell choir
The church is involved in many mission activities, both local and overseas. These include cooking and delivering Mobile Meals, working with the local food bank, and offering counseling and comfort to those dealing with difficult times through their Stephen Ministry. Women's Circle groups meet throughout the week, and the church is also involved with occasional out of town mission trips.
