The Blue Hole

The Blue Hole is the one of the most infamous diving places of the world nicknamed „Diver´s Cemetery“.
This more than 100 m deep round pool in the reef is only few meters out from shore, very easily accessible. It opens to the Red Sea through a tunnel known as the Arch. The roof of the Arch lies at the depth of 52 m. The shoreward current makes it´s length 26 m much longer to swim.
The Blue Hole claimed the lives of more than 70 divers (some claim the actual number is over 100) in recent years. The names of several victims of the Blue Hole are written on the small tablets on the rock. In Arabic, English, the most recent ones in Russian.
Rest in the peace in depth.
The hole itself and the surrounding area has an abundance of coral and colourful reef fish. Divers who resist the temptation of the Arch and remain within their training and limitation are in no more danger than on any other Red Sea dive site.
