The barn was built in the mid-1930's as part of the Matanuska Colony, a New Deal project which brought farmers to Alaska from the midwest. This particular barn was built by Joe Puhl. The adjacent log house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The barn is located at 13151 E. Scott Rd., Palmer, Alaska.
