Queen Elizabeth I directed that new inns should be built in order to provide facilities for travelers. However, this one just isn't that old. This will have been built and named rather unimaginatively since then.
Here the sign shows the final act of construction as the sign is raised into its bracket whilst the landlord looks on. if only we could see the sign within the sign within the sign......
