The Cabrillo Bridge leads visitors to San Diego's Balboa Park from the Laurel Street entrance.

This pedestrian and auto bridge was built for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition. Route 163 runs through Balboa Park below it. It was designed by Thomas B. Hunter and was the first bridge in California to have a multiple-arched cantilever structure... and appears to be inspired by Roman aqueducts. It is 916 feet long and has seven arches. The bridge was made earthquake-proof c. 2009.
The bridge was dedicated April 12. 1914 by Franklin D. Roosevelt who was the Assistant Secretary of the Navy at that time.
The plaque on the bridge reads:
"SAN DIEGO HISTORIC
CIVIL ENGINEERING LANDMARK
(LOGO OF THE AMERICAN
SOCIETY OF CIVL ENGINEERS
FOUNDED 1852)
CABRILLO BRIDGE
COMPLETED 1915
DESIGNATED 1986 BY THE SAN DIEGO SECTION, ASCE"
Unfortunately the San Diego Chapter of the ASCE does not list on their website the sites it has designated as Landmarks.
