The Dove of Peace was constructed in 1984 for the visit of Pope John Paul in 1988. The wings are 56 feet (17 metres) across and weighs over 5 tons.

It was originally built near Namao (North Edmonton) on a farmer's field as an outdoor religious cathederal. The Catholic School's society adopted it and moved it in 1988.
