Cotton Park is located on the southern end of Dakota Street next to the Vermillion River and covers a little over 30 acres. The park provides playground areas, a soccer field, picnic shelter, restrooms, scenic bridge and hiking trails, a bike path along the river, and natural grasslands.

The bridge goes across a channel of the Vermillion River that creates an island from a sand bar.

The Vermillion River was known as the White Stone River many years ago. It was near this spot that Lewis and Clark and their Corps of Discovery camped on August 24, 1804.
