The district dates back to the early history of Woodland. When the county seat of Yolo county moved to Woodland in 1860, so did people. Schools, stores and a post office was built. By 1869, the California Pacific Railroad Company constructed a line between Davisville (now Davis) and Marysville. This brought more people to the city.
Main Street is now filled with business. There are some historic building on the street (IOOF hall, Opera house etc..)
