The Tree Farm Dam system was designed and constructed to prevent storm water runoff damage to Corrales from this basin. Tree Farm Pond 'A' detains water up to the 100-year storm event (a storm with a 1% chance of occurring in any given year), reducing the flow rate from 500 cubic feet per second (cfs) to five cfs. The stored runoff is slowly released into Tree Farm Pond 'B' and then into the Corrales Main Canal at five cfs under permit from the MRGCD.
