Portola is the only incorporated city in Plumas Countty. The population as of 2000 was 2227. The city is named after explorer Gaspar de Portola. The city sits on the Feather River.
The city hall is located in the south part of town. It's across from a part and sandwiched between the post office and library. The long building looks a lot like a trailer. Outside the city hall is a wooden bear and a rock memorial celebrating the city's incorporation.
