Driving north from Ajaccio, you climb steadily to the Col de Sébastiano at 411m. At the col is a sundial, a small wayside chapel, and a great view of the Golfe de Lava. The sundial is a modern freestanding concrete monument with a tile sundial on the south face. The sundial at grade level has suffered from vandalism as the gnomon is missing and the “Beausoleil” sun is effaced. The noon line is displaced from vertical indicating the dial is corrected for longitude. The dial is over 3 ft wide and about 4 ft high.
Sundial Type: Vertical - Wall mounted dial plate
