I placed my Walking Stick at the confluence and took pictures looking north, east and west. My south photo was messed up. As you can see on my GPS that it showed it was bouncing from 0 feet to 2 feet. Well I was deep in the forests of the Rocky Mountains and as GPS users we all get that dreaded bounce.

To get to this Confluence there are actually to two very different ways. The first is to go to the posted parking coordinate along Schubarth Trail Rd (aka Forest Rd 307). Park on the south side of the road which is across from an unmarked trail. If you follow along this trail, heading northwest for about 800 feet you will come to an old pair of vehicle tracks grown over with years of non-vehicle use. Now veer north east along what you see is part of a mountain melt water flood plain. The two-rut path follows along this route. Walk this fairly flat path until you reach the hillside below the Confluence. From here it is a short but kind of steep hike up the hillside to the Confluence Point.

The second way to get to the Confluence involves entering Farish Recreation Area. In order to do this you must be an active duty or retired member of the military with an ID Card to prove it. Farish Recreation Area is run and maintained by the U.S. Air Force Academy. The USAFA is about 8 miles by mountain trail or 45 miles by road.

Now if you do possess the required ID Card then this route to the Confluence Point is very easy. You simply follow the Flat Lands trail from the southwest edge of the Sapphire Lake parking area. Follow this trail for about .5 miles and it passes within 8 feet of the confluence.
