This historical marker sits in front of Mamie Doud Eisenhower’s birthplace in Boone. First Lady Mamie Doud Eisenhower, wife of U.S. 34th President Dwight D. Eisenhower, was born in this small house in Boone, IA. The restored Victorian home holds exhibits from Mamie’s life, photos and mementoes of Ike and Mamie’s life, reference material, and local history. The museum is operated by the Boone County Historical Society, and the marker was placed here De Shon Chapter of the D.A.R. in 1954.
