This house was built for John and Mary Anna Wright Ford c.1883. John had emigrated from England with his first wife, Rebecca, and their nine children in 1854. After Rebecca's death in 1881, he and Mary Anna Wright, who had emigrated from England in 1870, were married in 1883. John retired in 1886 and continued to live in this house until his death in 1901 at the age of 96. The property remained in Mary Anna's name until 1906 when portions of the property were deeded to John's sons, William, John, Joseph, and Hyrum. The property was sold to William L. Rigby, Mary's nephew in 1924.
William, the son of John and Lucy Ann Wright Rigby, was born in 1877. He and Blanche Barns were married in 1913. They lived in this house until the flood of 1930 when the house became filled with mud and they moved next door to his parent's house, later using this house as rental property. Blanche died in 1931 from complications of childbirth. William was justice of the peace in Centerville during 1936-53. The house was deeded to their son, William B., and daughter, Jeanne R. Mooney, who continues to reside in the house.
