The marker on the house reads:

The Hyrum and Selma Jacobson House, built c.1914, is significant for its association with Sandy's historic developement. The cross-wing house with Victorian Eclectic detailing is a well-preserved example of the more permanent brick homes built by second generation residents of Sandy.

This house sits on property originally owned by Matilda Jacobson, Hyrum's Mother. Hyrum's half-brother John Nelson was most likely the one who constructed the house in which the Jacobson's would raise their four children. Hyrum was a farmer and later a foreman at the United States Smelting Company in Midvale. Selma was very talented and sang in the local Swediah choir. The Jacobson family owned the home for nearly four decades. In 1979 James and Stacie Wayne bought the property and have spent a number of years rehabilitating the house.
