This sculpture mixes a bronze conglomerated statue with a pedestal of mosaics.
The sculpture depicts most prominently a man holding a child over the words "The Mother Road" and Route 66". The rest of the work has icons of the historic road... a motel, a Burma Shave sign, the Santa Monica pier (the western terminus), a bridge, a small town, etc.
The work is signed "KS" and "FCPA".
The mosaics on the pedestal depicts two Route 66 signs..one east and one west.
