There have been three famous John Winthrops (at least, famous enough to warrant their own Wikipedia articles). This one is the astronomer, 2nd Hollis Professor of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy in Harvard College, and resident of The Wayside in Concord. The marker reads:
"Prof. John Winthrop - The greatest American mathematician and philosopher of his time, a fellow of the Royal Society, lived here from 1746 to 1779 - 1714-1779"

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. The picture does not have to be of the marker - one picture of the marker is enough. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
